NOISE was first commissioned by Jean Andzulis at Playwrights Horizons Theater School/NYU in August of 2016.

NOISE received a finishing commission from The Public Theater in August of 2017 due to the advocacy of Jesse Alick, Jeanie O'Hare, and Jack Moore.

NOISE has been developed with immense dramaturgical and creative support from Sarah Benson, Andrew Neisler, Emily Orling, Raja Feather Kelly, Dante Green, Samita Sinha, Madeline Smith, Storm Thomas, Ben Hobbs, Marisa Clementi, Ellen Winter, Ana María Alvarez, Anaïs Maviel, Jim Petty, Christopher Bowser, all of the casts and creative teams from the developmental versions including the assistants and associates Alex Bush, Kirstyn Ballard, Sarah Cook, Christina Franklin, Kieran Graulich, Jaime Jarrett, Sam Leopold, Jamie Shapiro, James Wyrwicz and Jacob Zedek.

NOISE has been developed with immense technical, producerial and logistical support from Jean Andzulis, Nicole Martorana, Allison Bressi, Kristy Bodall, Victoria Flores, Megan Burnett, Dan Spitaliere, Graham Johnson and Five Ohm Productions

NOISE was first performed at NYU Playwrights Horizons Theater School/NYU in December of 2016 with the following cast: Michael P Bascle, Michael Burgos, Caitlin Cobb-Vialet, Megan Comerford, Guillermo Contreras, Mateo Correa, Brenna Donahue, Mary Gunther, Sarah McShane, Aigner Mizzelle, Jenna Rush, Donte Reid, Kennedy Spencer, Storm Thomas and Ellen Winter. Director: Andrew Neisler; Choreographer: Ben Hobbs; Consulting Choreographer: Ana María Alvarez; Lights and Sets: Christopher Bowser; Sound: Josh Millican; Costumes: Laura Lashley; Music Directors: César Alvarez and Ellen Winter; Percussion Consultant: Eric Farber; Stage Manager: Kristy Bodall.

NOISE was developed further at the Vineyard Arts Project in August 2017.

NOISE was re-dramaturgued in retreat at César and Emily’s home in May of 2018 by César Alvarez, Marisa Clementi, Ben Hobbs, Andrew Neisler, Emily Orling and Storm Thomas. The retreat and the subsequent NOISE Potluck were made possible by The Public Theater.

NOISE was workshopped in a space grant at The Public Theater in October of 2018 with the following cast, Aigner Mizzelle, Allan Washington, Caitlin Cobb-Vialet, Sarah Flaim, Dante Green, Eamon Goodman, Ellen Winter, Emily Hope Price, Eric Farber, Fred Epstein, Guillermo Contreras, Jaime Jarrett, Maya Sharpe, Nezih Antakli, Stephanie Hsu, Tanyaradzwa Tawengwa.
