NOISE was first commissioned by Jean Andzulis at Playwrights Horizons Theater School/NYU in August of 2016.

NOISE received a finishing commission from The Public Theater in August of 2017 due to the advocacy of Jesse Alick, Jeanie O'Hare, and Jack Moore.

NOISE has been developed with immense dramaturgical and creative support from Sarah Benson, Andrew Neisler, Emily Orling, Raja Feather Kelly, Dante Green, Samita Sinha, Madeline Smith, Storm Thomas, Ben Hobbs, Marisa Clementi, Ellen Winter, Ana María Alvarez, Anaïs Maviel, Jim Petty, Christopher Bowser, all of the casts and creative teams from the developmental versions including the assistants and associates Alex Bush, Kirstyn Ballard, Sarah Cook, Christina Franklin, Kieran Graulich, Jaime Jarrett, Sam Leopold, Jamie Shapiro, James Wyrwicz and Jacob Zedek.

NOISE was first performed at NYU Playwrights Horizons Theater School/NYU in December of 2016 with the following cast: Michael P Bascle, Michael Burgos, Caitlin Cobb-Vialet, Megan Comerford, Guillermo Contreras, Mateo Correa, Brenna Donahue, Mary Gunther, Sarah McShane, Aigner Mizzelle, Jenna Rush, Donte Reid, Kennedy Spencer, Storm Thomas and Ellen Winter. NOISE was re-dramaturgued in retreat at César and Emily’s home in May of 2018 by César Alvarez, Marisa Clementi, Ben Hobbs, Andrew Neisler, Emily Orling and Storm Thomas. The retreat and the subsequent NOISE Potluck were made possible by The Public Theater.
